Sherlock & Dracula: Lifeblood by Kev Freeman is everything that I have been waiting for and far more than that. After suffering through some fairly terrible horror series over the last ten or so years, this was a breath of fresh air and written in a way that would have made Arthur Doyal AND Bram Stoker proud. The story, though it includes Sherlock Holmes and Watson are written in a fresh way and there is plenty of humor mixed into this dark tale. The story gets incredibly interesting when a woman named Mina shows up from an appointment on a dark and rainy day to speak with Sherlock Holmes. She is the wife of someone who is very familiar to Holmes and the tale that she is about to tell is going to will send shivers down your spin and bring back the name of someone who seemed lost to history and literature forever, Dracula. The mastery at work here to bring these two great worlds together takes some intense imagination and some real knowledge about both worlds and the twists and turns each world takes constantly. I am amazed. The journal of Jonathon Harker connects some of the dots of the mystery and the adventure deepens. I will not reveal more than that because like the original Sherlock Holmes novels, that will give a little bit too much away and I really think that this story should be enjoyed in full by those who read it. I would recommend this book to anyone and have already. The author did an amazing job and I applaud him! “Sherlock & Dracula: Lifeblood” by Kev Freeman (Author), including the words of Arthur Conan Doyle (Author), and Bram Stoker (Author) is an amazing work. This is not some weak, as they used to say, ‘dime novel,’ or an attempt to stitch together two classic stories just to sell a book. The title may seem contrived, but the book is, truly, a logical and rich blending of those original stories.“Sherlock & Dracula” is a tale of pseudo-historical, dead, and dusty horror, terror. The object of said terror becomes the very reason the main character Mina seeks out Holmes and Watson and elicits their help.It had never occurred to me that these two wonderful, historical stories took place, (were set in) the same time period. Also, their shared location, London, must have helped set the stage for author Freeman to combine the two. What a compelling and convincing idea!Doyle and Stoker are given author’s credit in the title of the book, but my hat is off to Kev Freeman. He, somehow, wove this convincing combination of both tales, and presents very ‘real’ plots, subplots, and rich characters to do so.I do recommend this great book to all mature Doyle and Stoker fans and to any reader who would love a horror, terror, mystery, suspense combination. You won’t be disappointed!I am very happy with my purchase and would gladly buy this book again.
